The words Palazzo and Versace immediately conjure up images of Italian architecture oozing with style and ambiance, and the Palazzo Versace Gold Coast, did not disappoint.
We arrived late afternoon and pulled up to the majestic hotel in awe, with mosaic tiled driveways, stone pillars and sleek rolls royces’ lining the curb. The porter opened our car doors, loaded the bags onto a trolley and was taking our car to valet services all in a matter of seconds. We made our way inside to the grandest lobby you ever did see. With white, pale blue and gold marbles floors, walls and ceilings and a huge crystal chandelier. There were large white pillars with gold trim in the corners, luxe lounges and purple orchids to add a splash of colour.
The lobby looked straight out to the azure pool and past it to the marina. There was a bar to the left with a shiny grand piano surrounded by pink or blue arm chairs coupled with dark wooden features giving the sense of old, grand Italy. The receptionist checked us in and one of the staff who I spoke to on the phone, recognised our name and came over to introduce himself. Whilst checking in they upgraded us to the top floor and organised our lunch booking for the next day. I hadn’t stayed in a place quite as grand, and was almost intimidated by the beauty of it.
After checking out our room (which did not disappoint) we headed down to the bar, Le Jardin for a pre dinner drink. With attentive staff and an impressive cocktail and wine list, it easy to accidentally spend hours sipping away. The Palazzo Versace is situated right next door to the Marina Mirage, so we walked there for dinner. After ambling back and forth between countless restaurants we finally settled on ‘The Pier’, an Italian fusion restaurant. We ordered 5 (large) dishes to share, and managed to finish them all! Good effort all round. As usual our waiter was shocked by how much food we managed to devour!
The next morning we awoke to an amazing buffet breakfast complete with hot coffee, teas and freshly prepared omelettes on demand. The buffet had everything you could possibly imagine, in an amazing sunlight room overlooking the pool. The remainder of the day was spent lounging by the pool in one of the private cabanas, enjoying the peace and serenity. Lunch at Vie Bar and Restaurant overlooking the marina completed our stay before heading back to reality .
Wonderland Escapes was a guest at Palazzo Versace, all opinions and pics remain my own!
