A Quick Guide to Travelling in Pairs

Some love travelling alone but to others this seems daunting and questionably lonely. Whilst travelling with a friend may seem a good idea to begin, long times on the road with each other can sometimes strain your relationship. Here are some tips to keep in mind when planning a trip with your mate.

Agree to disagree – You won’t always want to do the same thing, and that’s totally fine. In fact, that’s good. Agreeing to do different things during the day gives you both some space and when you meet up again you will have fun stories to share

Honesty is key – If you don’t feel like doing something, say it. There’s no point in moping about doing activities you don’t want to do when you have spent all your money to get there..

Single sleeping – Every now and then book separate hotel rooms. It might be more expensive but a little time to yourself will do you justice and you wont feel like biting each others heads off!

Be prepared for a disagreement – Make sure you travel with someone you feel comfortable arguing with, because with out a doubt you will get sick and tired of each other at some point. Just remember not to take any negativity to heart!

Make friends with other travellers to mix it up.

Have an opinion but be flexible – Don’t say ‘I don’t mind’ when deciding what to do for a day. It honestly drives me insane and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way! Have an input and help plan out your activities. However don’t be 100% set in your ways, if you’re travelling in pairs you’ll need to learn to compromise or do separate activities.
